Yoga Every Saturday Morning 10am

We're gonna do the koha thing, a goldcoin or peice of fruit is plenty, you really dont have to give anything, We really just want you there.  Its in the small Mauri behind Kaiti Mall.

I developed the class over the last decade in order to overcome some horrific injuries I had as a competive skateboarder and snowboarder.  The worst being 2 back surgeries at 3 levels.  Yoga is a requirement for me to work, surf, and maintain my lifestyle.  The class is influenced by Hatha, Ashtanga, and Bikram's that i've studied in 15 countries.  My practice also combines aspects of Tai Chi, routines of Shaolin monks, and input from dedicated physios.

Find yourself with less stess, less muscle tension, and a clear mind.
Hope to see ya on Saturday.

Namaste,
Dave

Rains and Floods Don't Stop Movie Night #1

Testing projector with a surf vid,  never did actually watch the movie:
Too busy carpetboarding, rapping and appreciating art.

pre-flick art show:
r3m0 williams brought out 10 sculptures.
He has cast one per year for the past decade using the "lost wax" technique of bronze casting.

I brought my partner, keri lloyd's, diarramas, mobiles, and books all made of rubbish and recycled goods.

We also had some amazing Maori carvings, taiahs, and a tewhatewha from lyden manuel, levi tamiahana, and william brown from craig calaghan's class at GBHS.

pre-flick rap n sk8 comps:
Mr Dorosko won his own rap comp (the only other rapper Mike Flush from M.T.I. didn't get to go, Mike's on security at the mall had to run out and handle drama).  Nathan Stills look the Best Trick (due to rain) Carpet Board Comp.  Big ups to Wainui Beach Store and DVS shoes for putting up prizes!

CARPETBOARD RESULTS:
1. Nathan Stills (handplant)  2.  Sean Hovell (late kickflip)  3.  Keri Lloyd (f/s 180)
4.  Dave Dorosko (variel underflip)  4. Heather Stills (b/s shifty)  5. Sarah Traful (manuel)
6.  Remo Williams (powerslide)

more ART, RAP, SK8ing, and EMINEM next thurs 7pm...

YOGA UP 700%

Last week:  Not a huge turnout, to be honest NOBODY showed up, not one solitary soul.  I hung around for a bit and few dudes with dreads were attracted to the early Bob Marley and Skatalites I was bumping.  I burned them some reggae CDs and they promised to send their Ms.’s next Saturday.

One lonely tree (pose) i be, all by myself without nobody.

Just as I was about to start the class by myself, Tahawai Pewhairangi of girls high, walked by on her way to the store.  She told me to wait 10 more min.

Breath in deep. Now slowly make a ssssssss... sound until lungs empty. Repeat for 3 Bob Marley songs. That buzz is from your brain recieving the proper amount of oxygen.

After the class, Tahawai said “I feel really nice, I’m glad I came.”  She also hooked up a great koha, a stack of blank CD’s, I was really stoked.  Looks like we'll have a few more Bob CD’s to give away next Saturday.

Feel like this every Saturday 10am behind Kaiti Mall

UPDATE:  This morning we had 7 (8 if you count me), thats a 700% increase!

thanks: renton, ahi, krisharn, keenan, sarah, macgregor, and cameron

Sean Edwards Gets New Pair of Shoes

Saturday at the bowl, Ben from KINGPIN and Sam from DVS hooked up the hardest ripping locals with fly new kicks.  I dont know if I'd exactly call the shoes free, Sean and a few other Gizzy boys really earned their footwear by throwin' down huge hammers on the rail and gap.  My wheels (or guess I should say Ben and Liam's wheels, thanks for letting my cruz ur rides) never left the ground and I still got a free pair of MATIX shades and woofed down 4 sausages!  O.M.G., Shayne Biddle, and Matt Smith from the YMCA kept the beat (and beat box) bumpin' and served up the fresh freestyles that got our mental juices flowin'.

This mute actually went down the day before at our comp but it gets the point across:  Sean Kills It!

On a little darker note, after the jam was over some violence broke out.  Apparently somebody called somebody an orangutan and it ended with an ambulance ride and stitches.  When you hit somebody, especially with your board, there's gonna be heavy consquences for you and them.  If someone is trying to drag your mum into a car, by all means bash 'em, but if someone calls you a name, well, is it really worth is?
Stop the Violence, take it out on the coping, develop your Mana, keep ripping!
Kia Ora!

Little Rain Ain't Gonna Break Our Stride!
